Natasha Schmidt
Director of Design + Operations
Since 2003, Natasha Schmidt has been a driving force at SALT—shaping the studio’s creative direction and operational clarity. As Director of Design + Operations, and co-owner since 2013, she leads with intention, balancing design vision with grounded execution.
With over 25 years of experience and a portfolio spanning more than four million square feet across Alaska and beyond, Natasha brings deep expertise in programming, space planning, and user-centered design. Her work spans corporate, healthcare, hospitality, nonprofit, and restaurant sectors—each project guided by clear process, strong collaboration, and purposeful outcomes.
From Anchorage, and a graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design (BFA, Interior Design, cum laude), Natasha is NCIDQ-certified and an active member and past President of ASID Alaska. Her leadership is recognized with multiple industry awards and trusted by clients for her sharp problem-solving, thoughtful communication, and commitment to design that works—beautifully and practically.
At SALT, Natasha helps ensure every project runs smoothly and every team member feels supported—staying true to the studio’s mission + core values.
Outside of work, Natasha loves spending quality time with her husband and their two boys. Whether they're heading to the lake, cheering for the boys at a hockey rink, or off exploring a new destination, she’s always up for an adventure. At home, Natasha finds joy in her garden, caring for her (many!) houseplants, trying out new recipes, and keeping up with her weekly sourdough ritual.
